<image:title>WELCOME - “South End Church is a diverse urban church located in the middle of Boston's South End. It's just a great group of people, a spiritual family bound together by faith in Jesus Christ, the love of God for all, and the power of the Holy Spirit to make us the kind of people God wants us to be.”</image:title>

<image:title>Sunday Guided Worship 4.5.20 - PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Thank you for Palm Sunday, Lord. We give you the glory. Thank you Lord that we’re having church even though we are not together. We still get to see your glory. Be with our world, our country. Thank you, Father, that we can be together like this and that this would bring our church closer together. In your precious name, amen.”</image:title>

      <image:title>Sunday Guided Worship 4.5.20 - A SONNET FOR THIS PALM SUNDAY</image:title>
<image:caption>Now to the gate of my Jerusalem, The seething holy city of my heart, The saviour comes. But will I welcome him? Oh crowds of easy feelings make a start; They raise their hands, get caught up in the singing, And think the battle won. Too soon they’ll find The challenge, the reversal he is bringing Changes their tune. I know what lies behind The surface flourish that so quickly fades; Self-interest, and fearful guardedness, The hardness of the heart, its barricades, And at the core, the dreadful emptiness Of a perverted temple. Jesus come Break my resistance and make me your home. A POEM BY MALCOLM GUITE</image:caption>

<image:title>Sunday Guided Worship 4.26.20 - ANNOUNCEMENTS Wednesday Pasta & Prayer Every Wednesday evening, beginning this coming Wednesday - April 29th, we will have a Zoom prayer meeting beginning at 6:00. Join in to share your concerns and praises and to pray with your brothers and sisters. If you are eating while we are praying, we'll just mute you. Friday Bible Challenge Sara Mitchell has a good idea. Nothing new there. Each week, she will distribute a word or phrase that appears a number of times in the Bible. You participate by simply finding one of the references and sharing it on a conference call along with your thoughts on that passage. For the first session, the word was 'red' and we talked about 'red haired', 'red stew', 'red cord', 'red horse' and 'red dragon'. There is even a prize. The conference call will be weekly at 2:00 Friday afternoon.</image:title>

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.” “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. <image:title>Sunday Guided Worship 3.27.2020 - THE PEACE OF WILD THINGS</image:title>
<image:caption>When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. WENDELL BERRY</image:caption>

<image:caption>I grew up in Boston near Symphony Hall and met Jesus (also my beautiful wife Barbara some years later!) at Camp Chilaven. Over the years, I’ve worked various human services jobs while raising our children. Somewhere in all the chaos of life, Jesus told me to take in my nephew, when his mom got sick and passed, to raise him as my own. Music is what gets me through. Thanks to my Jazz musician dad, I learned that music speaks a language all its own. When words fail, I find some music that can speak for me. My dream is to be used by God to bring His flock together, rejoicing forever with our Lord and Savior Jesus.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am originally from San Miguel Él Salvador and now live in Boston with my wife Maria and our two sons and one daughter. I have served as the Lead Pastor of Iglesia Comunidad de South End since 2011 and have been actively involved in church leadership for the past 28 years. I received a diploma in Religious Education and a Master’s degree in Urban Ministry from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. My heart is for continuing to build a community-focused church with strong family foundations. We want to reach and serve the hispanic community and to work together with other organizations in the city. In my spare time, I like to run and play soccer with my oldest son. I can also cook up a storm of yummy food in the blink of an eye!</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Leadership - Sara Mitchell Community Chaplain I was born in Costa Rica to American parents. I grew up and went to college in the Chicago area, studying Urban Education and Spanish. In 1976, my husband Rudy and I came to Boston as missionaries at the Emmanuel Gospel Center in the South End, where I got to practice my Spanish at EGC’s multilingual Christian Bookstore. I would often take our two children along to work or to visit neighbors. Attending and graduating from Gordon Conwell gave me a great chance to relate to church leaders from all across the city. In 2001, I began to minister with and advocate for those experiencing homelessness. As part of the South End Church, it has been wonderful to see folks that come from the shelter participate and take responsibility for some of the tasks needed to run our church. As Community Chaplain at SENCE, my mission is to bridge the gap between the Church and community.</image:title>
